I think I've rewritten the first sentence of this blog at
least 10 times. The second one at least eight times. I've read the blogs of
those who came before me for inspiration and even shamelessly googled for web
journaling tips. Don't hold it against me just yet - I'm a first-time blogger.
My name is Jane Slusark and I'm two
days into my public relations internship with HRB. I'm beginning my
senior year at the University
of Iowa, majoring in
journalism and political science. I like to run, watch Hawkeye football and The
Office, tailgate, eat Thai food, and spend as much time outdoors as
possible. As I said before, I've never chronicled my thoughts via the web
and haven't cracked open a diary for at least 12 years. And back
then, it was just to scribble about my obnoxious older sister who taunted me
with an imaginary pig that only she could see or gush over my elementary school
crush, Brad Meyers (who will hopefully never come across this blog).
There it is, personal divulgences, I think I'm well on my blogging way.
That's the way things are at HRB - you learn when you do. As an
intern, I haven't even had the chance to hide behind the safety of a stapler or
copy machine. I was briefed on Monday by Inga on the major project deadlines
coming up, and allowed to get my hands into them right away. I've been told
what an integral role interns play here and been truly welcomed by the whole
team. I'm only two days in, but I'm confident that I will gain experience vital
to my professional and personal development. And maybe I'll become a
better blogger, too.
Until next week...
