The HRB crew went on a field trip to the new office location
today, which is a short walk from where we currently spin our chairs. The space
is open with large windows and exposed brick. The office dividers are low and
create an airy feeling. It reminded me of a classy newsroom. The design seemed
to promote communication and interaction, which will be a nice change. The move
is scheduled for the end of September.
Work wise, today is an ideas day - which I love. The beginning stages of a
project are my favorite. You are unaware of the impossibilities. When I
worked at a newspaper, idea formulation was the only time an editor
could be creative. Once the story focus was developed and art was discussed, my
role was cut and dry - copy edit and make sure it was done on deadline.
I'm excited to stretch my brain a bit here at HRB and see where it takes me. I
hope it still works...
Until next week.
