On
Monday, I visited my first client to present concepts that HRB had developed
for them. I helped on the ground level with the project, conducting
research and gathering information about their target audiences. From
there, I assisted Andrew, the client manager, in formulating techniques for
reaching these key people. It was very valuable to see the integration
between the client services side and the creative minds in the agency. Due to my involvement in the project, I was allowed to tag along to the meeting
with the permission of the client.
After a sleepy ride to Moline, Ill., in the backseat of the
Jim's car, we arrived. I planned on just sitting back from this point on and
taking it in. As an intern, I wasn't expected to present in the meeting. However, once we started explaining concepts, the questions began flying. I ended up speaking a lot because the questions were either directed at me or
referred to what I had discovered during the background research. I loved
the challenge of constructing answers on the spot that would satisfy the
client's curiosity.
While Monday was quite the eventful day - I slept on the way home, too -
Wednesday was a lot more laid back. It was Halloween and the annual HRB
Chili Cook-Off and Costume contest. On Friday, I went out with the ladies in
the office for a co-worker's birthday. It's strange how I am starting to
have a work life, in addition to my life back in Iowa City. Until next time...
