At HRB, food is key. I've learned this from many people, many meetings, etc. Today, I made popcorn with Mama Rochelle and she taught me her special recipe. Extra butter...Extra powdered butter...Extra salt. On a Friday afternoon when everyone is craving the weekend, it was perfect.
Each monthly staff meeting, people are assigned to bring food. Mama Rochelle often surprises us with special treats, like her amazing spicy corn dip. She does this out of the kindness of her heart and pocket. It's people that take time out of their day, when they are on their free-time, to do this that makes HRB an enjoyable place to work.
I've heard of some agencies that really emphasize taking time out for their employees to bond and relax. They host events for employees to get to know each other so they enjoy seeing those faces when they get to work. Planning a 4 p.m. Friday get-together motivates people to get their work done so that they can have fun during their last hour of the week. Adding a little play and fun to the workplace never hurt anyone, and strong office morale is so necessary to maintaining quality work.
