I can’t believe that I have already been at HRB for five weeks. My experience has already proved to be far more valuable than I ever could have imagined. So far, I have sat in on a client meeting, participated in a couple brainstorming sessions, written several news releases, and much more. I have shared this great experience with friends and others who are looking for an internship in the PR field, and I have encouraged them to apply for the summer intern position. HRB treats its interns as employees and offers them the opportunity to get real-life experience in the field rather than giving them tasks such as shredding paper.
As my fourth week of classes comes to an end, I’ve realized that graduation is right around the corner. Not to be pessimistic but spring break is four weeks away, and after spring break, the rest of the semester just flies. It just hit me that my college career will soon be ending and on May 17th, I will be thrown into the working world and be forced to face the many realities of life. I don’t think anything could truly prepare me for this next part of life, but I have found comfort in knowing that at HRB I have already learned many important skills that I will be able to carry with me. I’m sure I will continue to learn and grow over the next 11 weeks and be as prepared as possible for a career in PR. As for the other realities of life after college, like not relying on my parents, budgeting and paying my own rent and bills… well I guess I’ll just have to learn as I go.
